American History The people, Places & Principles of America
The People, Places and Principles of America is a study of United States history from pre-Columbus expeditions through the election of President George W. Bush. This content-based course approaches the study of American history from the 15 major components of culture (families, agriculture, religion, economics, military, discoveries, inventions, etc). The writers include vignettes, biographical sketches, and narratives to engage students. Graphics, illustrations, time lines and maps help students visualize significant concepts, dates and events. This course has been called "real history" because it ties the fifteen major cultural components to real people, places and principles. The vocabulary level is applicable for students from eighth grade through graduation. The content is designed to raise students' aspirations for noble and honorable life styles. Essential academic elements are aligned with standards for Arizona, Texas and NCLB. This course is also available in Talking Textbooks. Activities and quizzes prepare students for assessment exams.

Practical Home & Shop Skills
This high school elective course is designed to introduce teenagers to basic tools and skills associated with shop, home and community facilities. Students learn skills involving electricity, plumbing, budgeting, carpentry, and mechanics. Each of the 75 lessons begins with a narrative involving teenage characters who learn skills while participating in home, shop or community projects. The course is especially advantageous for students who need practical
guidance in employment and domestic relationships. Tools are suggested, but not required. The story line teaches practical benefits of cooperation with ethnic peer groups and neighbors. The authors have crafted the course not only to teach students how to use basic tools, but also to embrace courtesy, honest integrity and commitment. The narrative style, graphics and illustrations engage readers, drawing them into the lessons. The companion activity books help students work through the course in regular classrooms, shop or guided individualized learning programs. Course Kit consists of five, soft-cover, saddle-stitch books with five companion activity books, plus a Teacher’s Resource Kit with blackline master for activity answer keys, 15 section quizzes, 5 chapter tests with answer keys and CD-ROM for printing as needed on your computer quizzes, tests and keys.
English Grammar Skills *
This course is designed to equip eighth grade students with a strong understanding of the eight parts of speech, grammar, and writing skills. The course consists of five, saddle-stitched chapters in an 81/2 X 11 inch size magazine format. The five chapters of text are supplemented with five corresponding activity books that guide students through the lessons. The combined set of texts and activity books are applicable in regular classrooms or guided individualized learning programs.
Students are introduced to character-building life principles and vignettes of persons who role model positive life styles. Each lesson and the corresponding activity questions are based on the vignette in a clever approach that ties English grammar skills to real-life situations. Every grammar rule or part of speech is illustrated twice with sentences drawn from the vignette. This technique connects students to the study of English in a practical and engaging manner. Students experience the highly effective learning approaches of Eskimo, Greek and Hebrew methodologies which have endured the tests of time.
Each lesson is introduced with a theme art illustration that draws the student emotionally into the text. This course is also an excellent “brush up” or “recovery” study for under-performing high school students or adults who are weak in English grammar skills and/or who need a high school transcript credit that is foundational for regular high school English.
The Teacher’s Resource Kit includes rubrics and answers to activity questions and writing assignments. 15 quizzes, quiz keys, 5 tests,and test keys are also provided. A black-line master and CD are included to enable the teacher to reproduce section quizzes and chapter tests as needed.
English Language Skills * *
These two courses are based on rules and principles of classical English. Students gain a very strong grasp of grammar and writing. Vocabulary and content are appropriate for grades 8-12. All PAC courses accommodate accelerated learning; students who need to recover from previous classroom failures or incompletes may advance through the courses with minimum dependence on teachers. Essential academic elements and skills are aligned with 8th and 9th grade standards for most states. Each lesson begins with a poem or vignette about a person who faced and overcame challenges of injury, dreams, abuse, danger, rejection or failure. Grammar rules are imbedded in sentences or paragraphs extracted from the vignettes, thus students are engaged immediately. Students are introduced to diagramming of simple, complex and compound sentences. Students gain a solid foundation in writing skills and the elements of short stories and poetry. These courses are also available in Talking Textbook format.
English I: Language Skills *
ENG I is part of a continuous high school English curricula designed to prepare students for post-high school studies and careers which require strong reading and writing skills. The first of a four-level series is built on techniques “borrowed” from four cultures: USA, Eskimo, Greek and Hebrew. Paradigm high school English is available in a seamless program that begins with English I and continues through English IV. Every grade level (I through IV) focuses on interpretation and development of writing styles. English I: Language Skills builds on skills learned in English Grammar Skills (EGS, eighth grade*) by reviewing the parts of speech and their application. Students read and evaluate literature carefully selected to expose students to noble ideals and writing techniques that equip students to craft strong sentences and paragraphs, while becoming effective wordsmiths skilled in producing poems, letters, essays, narratives,
editorials, articles, speeches, allegories, and research papers. Students gain experience writing pieces that inform, entertain, persuade and challenge. Students learn to address literary concepts such as cause and effect, logic, premises, comparison, and contrasts.

English IV: A Legacy of Freedom & Virtue in Literature & Philosophy
ENG IV is the fourth part of a continuous high school English curricula designed to prepare students for post-high school studies and careers which require critical interpretive skills in language, literature, and writing. This course consists of four chapters carefully designed to encourage students to become virtuous and responsible adults in society by exposing them both to literature that encourages freedom and virtue and to literature that inhibits freedom and virtue.
Description: Overview of authors and literature that have impacted the world on a wide scale.
This course provides a study of the major world authors who were “firsts” in their fields of philosophy, reform, politics, science, religion, drama, poetry, novels, short stories, essays, biographies, and autobiographies. This study takes an historical approach to literature touching on ancient writings, and progressing through the Dark Ages, the Medieval Era, and into Modern times. This course also addresses cultural traditions of oral recitation, myth, fable, legend, parable, and folklore. The student will also learn to recognize literary characteristics such as theme, tone, and voice, as well as techniques to enhance interest, including anaphora, refrain, and many more components of literature.
The accompanying Activities will stretch a student’s writing and critical thinking skills, and requires memorization using the Benjamin Franklin approach to learning. The Activities will propel the student toward achieving literary and critical excellence and will enable a student to interpret important literary themes to become a competent student of Literature. As with all PAC courses, teachers may purchase all four chapters or may purchase only those chapters which the teachers prefer. Teachers may exercise personal preference for course content by selecting preferred chapters from those available in English I through IV. This course "doubles" as a philosophy course.

Basic Math Skills
This course is designed for seventh and/or eighth grade students who need a comprehensive study of basic mathematics from simple addition to pre-algebra. The learning approach is based on content mastery facilitated by a combination of practice and reasoning. Each math concept is explained, defined and illustrated with at least two examples. Activity problems are crafted carefully to move the student from known to unknown material. The writers and editors have demonstrated their extensive experience with guided individualized learning approaches. Students can move through the course and grasp math concepts with very little dependence on teachers. This course provides excellent remedial studies for high school level students or adults who need a refresher course prior to algebra.

Basic Science Mysteries
GRADE 7
This is a study of general science. The vocabulary and content are designed for junior high students, but are appropriate for grades eight and nine when used as reading enhancement. Essential academic elements are aligned with most states and NCLB objectives regarding origin of life and general science. The style is unique in that each lesson includes segments of adventure similar to the episodes of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. Natural Science Mysteries
Designed as an eighth grade science course, these saddle-stitch texts cover Earth and life sciences, plus studies on the Periodic Table of the Elements and the solar system. The Precepts of Anatomy and Physiology (two chapters of text and two companion activity books) can serve as a stand-alone unit study worthy of ½ high school transcript credit in anatomy, or may be included as an adjunct to the Principles, Theories and Precepts of Biology course for 1 or 1 ½ biology credits, depending on local or state policies for assigning transcript credit for high school courses. This two-part unit study introduces high school students to the wonders of the complex design of the human body. Lessons include the structure, function and interaction of body systems, organs, glands and hormones as well as hazards to, and diseases of, various organs and systems. One of the objectives of this unit study is to equip teenagers with knowledge and principles with which to make positive life choices that will enhance health and happiness. Thus, students learn how life choices, diet, exercise and even thoughts affect physical and emotional health. The last three lessons of part two deal with male and female reproductive systems, discreetly worded and illustrated by line drawings. The student will learn that life begins at conception. The benefits of traditional roles of husband and wife are discussed. The student will marvel at the intricate and miraculous development of a baby from fertilization to birth: the maturation process of bones, organs, tissues, muscles and joints that compose the wonders of the human body. These three lessons are also applicable as supplemental material for sex education or abstinence.
Principles, Theories & Precepts of Biology
The Principles, Theories & Precepts of Biology consists of six chapters of text and six companion student activity books. This course is designed to satisfy most state requirements for one high school biology transcript credit. Students who complete this course will have a strong foundation for college studies in science and theories about the origin of life. The publisher takes a bold approach by challenging popular theories through use of the scientific method, application of DNA, and recent research to point out strengths and weaknesses of theories. Like all PAC courses, the PTP of Biology can be completed in classroom under guidance of a teacher, or through guided independent studies with minimum dependence on the teacher. The product design of the texts and activity books enables students to engage the material with or without oversight by a biology teacher. Lab experiences are not required, but may easily be accomplished as directed by the teacher.
More: Two additional chapters are available under the title, Precepts of Anatomy and Physiology, to enable students to expand their studies and/or to select four of six particular chapters to satisfy academic components stipulated by state standards for one transcript credit in biology. This is a stand-alone unit study of America’s Founding Fathers and the events leading to the documents they designed to establish The United States of America.
